{"id":682,"date":"2025-11-14T09:16:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T09:16:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jacobwarn.com\/?p=682"},"modified":"2025-11-14T09:16:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T09:16:14","slug":"turn-of-the-year-poem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jacobwarn.com\/es\/2025\/11\/14\/turn-of-the-year-poem\/","title":{"rendered":"Turn of the Year &#8211; poem"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/jacobwarn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Turn-of-the-Year.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did the mornings grow ever so cold<br>And the nights so awfully old?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did the street lights that splash in the rain<br>Start their shimmering over soaked drains?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did the buskers that brave the scarfed throngs<br>Start singing their seasonal songs?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did they suck the warm air from my room<br>And the fire right out of the sun?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did the year fetch its great overcoat<br>And furs rather linens promote?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did the boiler begin with its burble<br>And the radiators tinkle and gurgle?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did shorts stop being a thought<br>And my soles to slippers resort?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did the joy of a fresh jug of juice<br>Turn to Thermoses cleaned out for use?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did our love-making hide under sheets<br>And hands hunt hungrily heat?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did the streets fill with rain and with sleet<br>And the people stamp big booted feet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The answer is blown from our lips in the street<br>And told by the tatters of trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s when we know it\u2019s the turn of the year<br>And the time to turn inwards for cheer. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When did the mornings grow ever so coldAnd the nights so awfully old?
