Viernes de 5 balas - Jacob Warn

¡Maravillosos cambiadores del mundo! 🌏

This bullet comes to you from a small side-street in Istanbul - and I hope the smell of cat piss doesn't reach you too! It'll be short and snappy with your usual fortnightly dose of social impact tools and treats I've come across or re-discovered. Please enjoy!

1. Lo que me choca: Andrew Tate - The Man Who Groomed The World? - Merece la pena ver este documental de la BBC de finales de agosto, de una hora de duración. El fenómeno de Andrew Tate me pasó desapercibido, pero esto me puso al día. Y me horrorizó.

2. What I'm smiling and in awe of: Taller de animación de Leeds - Simplemente ¡WOW! Descubrí estos como parte de un Exposición en Barcelona last week. As they introduce themselves: "Leeds Animation Workshop is a not-for-profit, cooperative company, run by women, which produces and distributes animated films and films on social and educational issues. The organisation began in 1976 as a group of women friends who came together to make a film about the need for pre-school childcare." I just amado their fairy-tale set - watch Sin infracción o A través del techo de cristal for some wonderfully astute social and gender criticism delivered with Alan Bennett's voice to accompany.

3. What I'm sharing: Sucio patrocinio de la Copa del Mundo de Rugby - I've been getting stuck into Greenpeace campaigns and groups over the last weeks. This is a compelling campaign video, artfully made, that packs a punch!

4. What I'm questioning - Shouldn't we all be paid the same? - I've ended up discussing pay scales recently with a number of friends. I am confused how, as a society, we pay such vastly different amounts for different jobs, when everyone's time is surely equally valuable. I also believe that some of the lowest paid jobs are as - if not more - stressful than some of the highest paid jobs. Within an organisation, shouldn't we just be paying everyone the same (though certainly adjusted for things such as childcare/illness)? Send me your thoughts and vote Yes or No by tapping one of these buttons (note: these buttons won't take you anywhere but I'll be able to see what usted piensa).

5. What I'm finding useful: Recursos recopilados sobre la Ley de inmigración ilegal del Reino Unido - This is a great set of resources and events on the UK government's Illegal Migration Act, put together by Refugee Action. If you need to learn more, want to organise, or stay up to date - dive into this web page!
