1. What I'm inviting you to join me on: A 3-part climate change discussion called The Week - Several years ago I read Frederic Laloux's excellent book, Reinventing Organisations, on how to manage differently for the 21st century. Last year, he launched The Week, a curriculum and experience that takes place over 3 conversations with friends, family and colleagues. 3. Union I've joined: The Independent Workers' union of Great Britain - Thanks to a lovely but random conversation last month with my neighbour on the plane from Barcelona to London, I've now finally joined a union after years of saying I would. What is IWGB? "The IWGB was founded in 2012 by Latin American cleaners organising for better working conditions. Since then, we have grown to thousands of members across the country." They have a dedicated branch for Charity Workers and I've already been hugely impressed by the support and conversation offered.
4. What every charity should sign up to: TrustLaw free pro bono legal advice - I'm always surprised at how few charities know about and use this service. Simply sign up and get matched (as often as you want) with world-leading law firms who will literally research and advise you on anything you want. Used it. Love it. Recommend it! A great initiative from the Thomas Reuters Foundation.
5. What I'm reading: Adbusters Media Foundation - I have been enjoying this radical quarterly magazine that is a delightfully rogue-ish and thrillingly creative middle finger to capitalism and consumerism for well over a year now. I strongly recommend signing up for at least the digital edition. I also love their spoof ads, like this one:
