Good morning long lost friends! 🏝️
It’s almost 2 months since my last 5 Bullet Friday. Please forgive me! It started with a summer break, but ended with me deferring the act of writing each time Friday came around. Today, though, I’m back at it – with my selection of 5 social tips, treats and talking points – with a soft focus on money – all of which I’ve come across or re-discovered over the past few weeks. Enjoy!
1. What I’m watching: The Economics of Happiness – this classic of a documentary (1 hour, YouTube) only came across my path last week. It is brilliant. A sweeping hymn to the failures of globalisation and a call for sensible localisation in the face of planetary and social break-down.
2. What I’m discovering: What’s your Money Archetype – Take it all with a pinch of salt, but this money archetype quiz by Denise Duffield-Thomas is a thought-provoking exercise. Think Myers-Briggs but for your relationship to money. I’ll keep my archetype a secret for now, but if you do it, let me know and we can exchange insights!
3. Quote I’m pondering: Donella Meadows – “We’ll go down in history as the first society that wouldn’t save itself because it wasn’t cost-effective.”
4. What I’m writing: Lived Experience Good Practice & Stories – One of the main themes of my work this year has been promoting lived experience leadership in the refugee sector. This blog contains 3 brilliant TED-style talks from our event in July and 7 stories of Good Practice we’ve worked on with partner organisations. Take a look!
5. What I’m sharing: Storytellers Fund 2024 – This just-opened fund from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation is worth exploring and sharing with any story-tellers you know who need some cash to finance their project.
That’s it for this fortnight! As ever, please let me know your thoughts and feedback – and send anything you’d like me to include in upcoming editions this way.
